The Green Express story began with a group of people wanting to make a difference in the great city of Atlanta.
We love Atlanta because she is the major city in the South. Atlanta is a city that has enterprising people, progressive
corporations and entrepreneurial pioneers wanting to change the world. Atlanta is also home to scores of smog alerts
where air quality does not meet state or federal guidelines. Unfortunately, Atlanta has moved to the number one
position for kids with asthma and is always in top five cities with worst traffic.
As our team approached finding a solution to Atlanta's problems, we made some basic assumptions: First, life is short.
We wanted to make a positive difference, now. Second, we decided we wanted to be better stewards of the environment
and do the right thing. Being a better steward required evaluating every business process and finding a way that would
harm the environment. Third, we decided we would effect change in the environments, where we had influence.
team decided we can change our entire courier business if needed, to be a better corporate citizen. Fourth, we want our
kids to live in a better world. Every body on our team has kids and we want to leave them with a better environment,
more opportunities and a safer world.
So we started at the ground floor. We had a courier company in a heavily competitive market. We primarily were doing
rush and overnight courier deliveries in metro Atlanta. Our courier drivers were using a lot of fuel delivering small packages, just like every other courier company in metro Atlanta.
So our team started with the idea of changing our name to Green Express, to reflect a green approach to the courier
industry. Next, we started buying hybrid electric cars which were getting 60 miles per gallon in the city and were emitting
80% less pollutants into the air. The cars were really the focal point of Green Express making a difference because we
would immediately reduce the amount of fuel used daily and our electric cars would not be putting all the toxins in the air.
The idea of moving to Green was major. No courier company in America had moved to the hybrid fleet. Green Express
would be the first courier company in America to switch to hybrid vehicles. Green Ex would be the first courier company in America to say people matter, profits are important and our environment
should not be taken for granted. The Green Ex
team started being more conscious about fuel usage, pollutants in air and the effects on our quality of life. Green Express started to reduce our carbon footprint as well as our customers which could have a significant impact in Atlanta over time.
Every process was now being filtered through an environmental microscope. It became a game for us to evaluate all processes and decisions to see how ideas would impact the environment. As a result, our office started moving to more organic products. Recycled papers, CDC lighting, and shredding were immediately implemented. We started e-billing and e-mailing more and more correspondence. We started being more conscious of environmental issues like alternative vehicles, clean air and fuel efficiency.
Green Express started tracking fuel efficiency within our courier fleet. We started getting new customers who came on board for one reason, because we were green. Our current base of customers loved the new changes and the new branding.
Our green conversion has started out with a successful launch. We will change the courier industry in Atlanta. We may change the transportation business in America.
For 2007, we are expanding our courier services in Atlanta which currently include same day service of 1 hour rush delivery, 2 hour delivery, 3 hour delivery, 4 hour delivery and all day courier service which is called in before 10 am and delivered by 5 pm. We wanted to give our customer base a hybrid alternative to overnight delivery companies like UPS and FedEx, so we are adding "hybrid car" next day services. Our next day line-up includes Green Overnight which is 24 hour delivery, Green 2 day which is 48 hour delivery, Green 3 day which is 72 hour delivery, and Green Ground which is delivery within 1-5 business days. We will also be including Green Home Delivery and Green After Hour Delivery for those late night courier deliveries in the 16 county metro Atlanta area.
Green Express will also expand our metro atlanta delivery zone to include Acworth, Alpharetta, Atlantic Station, Buckhead, Brookhaven, Buford, Canton, Carterville, Chamblee, Cherokee County, Cobb County, Conyers, Cumming, Dallas, Dacula, Decatur, Dekalb county, Doraville, Douglasville, Downtown hotels, motels, conventions, arts and entertainment venues, Dunwoody, Duluth, Buckhead, College Park, East Point, East Cobb, Forsyth County, Fulton county, Gwinnett County, Gainesville, Hall County, Jonesboro, Johns Creek, Kennesaw, Lawrenceville, Lilburn, Loganville, Marietta, McDonough, Midtown, Newnan, Norcross, Peachtree City, Roswell, Snellville, Stockbridge, Sandy Springs, Smyrna, Stone Mountain, Suwanee, Sugar Hill, Tucker, Vinings, West Cobb, Windy Ridge, Winder, Woodstock.
Thank you for joining us in this crusade for a better quality of life and we are looking forward to your business
